Project Description:
Long Willow Farm is located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Landscape improvements supported extensive renovations to the 19th century stone farm house and the conversion of an existing barn to a guest house. Unique to the project was the creation of a broad gravel path connecting the main house with the guest house. Also serving as a bocce court, this central landscape feature provided at-grade accessibility between the two dwellings, an important program goal for the owners. Total impervious cover was actually reduced during construction, and a sophisticated rainwater harvesting system was established for irrigation. A water feature and a bog garden was integrated into the design of the main terrace as well, providing a space for relaxation and recreation. The plant palette was primarily natural. Invasive plants were removed and a new meadow planting installed near the pool area. Plants benefitting pollinators were a priority for the bee-keeping owners as well.
