ABOUT OUR STAFF

John Thomas, ASLA, Principal

John Thomas has over 25 years of experience as a practicing landscape architect. He completed undergraduate work in Environmental Studies at the University of Vermont and the Conway School of Landscape Design prior to receiving a Bachelors of Science in Landscape Architecture from Penn State University. Before founding John Morgan Thomas Landscape Architects, John worked as a community planner for the Bucks County Planning Commission and as a landscape architect and associate at Carter van Dyke Associates in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

John brings to the practice a wide range of experience in both public and private practice, including municipal planning, park and recreation plans, pedestrian and trail studies, and a variety of residential, institutional, and commercial design projects. Since establishing his own firm, John's focus has been primarily on detail scale design, and he has worked on projects ranging from award-winning private residences to public landscapes such as the Penn State Alumni center. He particularly enjoys the interaction with clients and the collaboration with other design professionals and craftspeople that his position allows. John has always been passionate about plants, and planting design continues to be a focus in his practice. John serves as the lead designer on most projects, and he functions as the project manager for larger commissions.
